Biography

George Skiadopoulos is a Professor of Finance at the University of Piraeus (Department of Banking and Financial Management) and at Queen Mary University of London (School of Economics and Finance). He is a member of the Group of Economic Advisers of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and an Advisor to the Innovation Hub on Financial Technology of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission. He is the Director and co-Founder of the Institute of Finance and Financial Regulation, and an Honorary Senior Visiting Fellow at Bayes Business School City, University of London.
Professor Skiadopoulos has acted as a consultant to financial institutions in Greece and abroad and he has worked for the Athens Derivatives Exchange. He is a frequent speaker at conferences for academics, professionals, and policy makers. His research has been published in leading academic journals and it has been cited by regulators and professionals. It has been featured in international media including Columbia Law School Blue Sky Blog, Forbes, and Wall Street Journal, and it has been funded by national and international organizations, including the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Foundation Group and the J.P. Morgan Research Centre in Commodities. His recent research on climate change risks and asset prices has been presented (by invitation) to the European Parliament, EBA, EIOPA, ESMA, CONSOB and it has been cited by the OECD.
Professor Skiadopoulos holds a Ph.D. from the University of Warwick, an M.Sc. in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics from the London School of Economics, and a Ptychion in Economics (ranked first in his graduating class) from AUEB.
